Por
donde una vez caminó Poe
Eternas cavilan las sombras sobre esta
tierra
soñando con siglos que antes se han ido;
grandes olmos solemnes se alzan a un lado
de la losa y del sepulcro,
arqueados en lo alto, sobre un antiguo mundo
oculto.
Alrededor de la escena, relumbra una luz de
recuerdos
y las hojas muertas de los días pasados
susurran,
anhelando miradas y sonidos que ya no
están.
Solitario y triste, un espectro se desliza
por los pasillos que antes llevaban sus
huellas;
ninguna mirada común lo percibe, aunque
su canto
resuena con aura misteriosa a través del
tiempo:
sólo aquellos pocos que conocen el
secreto del hechizo
divisan, entre estas tumbas, la sombra de
Poe.
Where
once Poe walked, by H. P. Lovecraft
Eternal
brood the shadows on this ground,
Dreaming of centuries that have gone before;
Great elms rise solemnly by slab and mound,
Arched high above a hidden world of yore.
Round all the scene a light of memory plays,
And dead leaves whisper of departed days,
Longing for sights and sounds that are no more.
Lonely and sad, a spectre glides along
Aisles where of old his living footsteps fell;
No common glance discerns him, though his song
Peals down through time with a mysterious spell:
Only the few who sorcery’s secret know
Espy amidst these tombs the shade of Poe.
